In England, Saki worked as a journalist, writing political satire and serving as a correspondent to Russia and France. Saki served in the army during World War 1 and was killed in France. He wrote many short stories that, like "The Interlopers", end with some surprising twists.<br />Conflict:<br />Most plots are built on conflict, or the struggle between opposing forces. An external conflict occurs between two or more characters or between a character and the forces of nature. An internal conflict occurs within a character who possesses opposing ideas or feelings. The characters in "The Interlopers" inherited an external conflict from their grandparents.<br /><br />Look for:<br />As you read "The Interlopers", look for the forces that oppose Urlich von Gradwitz besides his old enemy, George Znaeym.
